Smart Outdoor was founded in 2019. We are the North East’s largest outdoor media owner and experts in digital out-of-home advertising, with decades of experience and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in this ever-changing industry.
We recognised the potential of smart software and digital technology early on, using it to deliver highly targeted, effective campaigns that make a real impact. At Smart Outdoor, it’s not just our technology and locations that give us an edge — it’s also our people.
Our growing national network now includes over 1,100 live screens across more than 190 towns and cities, from standout large-format sites like the Tyne Tunnel and Sunderland City Centre to a wide range of small-format screens in retail and transit environments. In 2025, we began a new partnership with Shell, bringing 91 digital forecourt locations into the network. This is a major step in expanding our footprint further south and gives advertisers access to high-frequency, roadside environments across the UK.
